Every League of Legends account lives on exactly one regional server, and the choice matters more than new players expect: it sets your ping, your queue times, the languages in your lobbies and even the general playstyle you will face. Here is how the major regions differ and how to choose.
What actually changes between regions
- Ping: the dominant factor. Playing on a server a continent away adds 100+ ms and is miserable in a game this timing-sensitive.
- Queue times: bigger regions fill queues faster at every rank; small regions can have long high-elo queues.
- Language and culture: lobbies on EUW are a language mosaic; TR, BR and LAN/LAS are strongly single-language communities.
- Competition: the biggest servers have deeper ladders — the same rank badge represents a somewhat different skill level from region to region.
The major regions at a glance
- EUW (Europe West): the largest western server, deep ladder, fast queues at all ranks. Default pick for western/central Europe.
- EUNE (Europe Nordic & East): home server for the Nordics and eastern Europe; slightly smaller than EUW with a reputation for aggressive solo queue.
- NA (North America): the main Americas English-language server.
- TR (Turkey) and RU (Russia): single-language regional servers with tight communities.
- BR, LAN, LAS: Brazil and Latin America north/south — large, passionate, Portuguese/Spanish-speaking.
- OCE (Oceania): the server for Australia/NZ.
- MENA (Middle East): Riot's newest region, launched in 2024, giving the Middle East local-ping servers for the first time.
Playing on more than one region
Riot accounts do not transfer freely — moving costs money when it is available at all, and your friends list, rank and often your name do not follow cleanly. The practical answer used by most multi-region players is simply one account per region.
That is straightforward with bought smurfs: pick the region on the product page and you get a ranked-ready Level 30+ account there. We stock Blue Essence smurfs and skin accounts for all ten regions above — from EUW and NA to MENA.
