How Long Does It Take to Reach Level 30 in LoL?

2026-07-27 · 5 min read

Level 30 is the gate to ranked play in League of Legends: you need it (plus 20 owned champions) before the Ranked Solo/Duo queue unlocks. If you are starting a fresh account today, here is what that grind actually looks like.

The short answer

For a typical player, reaching Level 30 takes roughly 100–170 hours of play — usually somewhere between one and two months of regular evening gaming. You can compress that with XP boosts and disciplined queueing, but there is no free way around the bulk of it.

The math behind it

  • A normal game rewards XP based mostly on game length — longer games give more, wins give a bonus.
  • Your first win of the day grants a significant flat XP bonus, which is the single most efficient lever a free-to-play leveler has.
  • Level requirements increase as you go: early levels take one or two games, later ones several.

Add it up and most players land in the range of 130–180 games before hitting 30. At an average of 25–30 minutes per game plus queue and champion select, that is where the 100+ hour figure comes from.

Ways to level faster

  1. XP boosts from the store roughly double your rate while active — but they cost real money on top of your time.
  2. Duo with a friend and chain games efficiently; dodging long queues and remakes adds up.
  3. Never miss the first-win-of-the-day bonus, even if you only play one game.

Even optimized, you are still looking at weeks of playing modes you may not care about, against a mix of bots, new players and other leveling smurfs.

The shortcut: buy a Level 30 account

This is exactly why smurf accounts exist as a product. A Level 30+ Blue Essence smurf skips the entire grind: it arrives unranked, with 40K–100K+ Blue Essence to unlock the champions you actually want, full recovery information and instant delivery after checkout.

If you mainly want a second account to play ranked with friends in a different bracket, or a fresh start on EUW, NA or any other region, the time saved is usually worth far more than the price of the account. New to the idea? Start with our guide on what a smurf account actually is.
